WHAT IS CRAFTPAC?
CraftPAC is a Texas-based general purpose Political Action Committee (PAC) founded by members of the Texas Craft Brewers Guild. It is a Board of Directors led organization and is largely supported by members of the Texas craft beer community.
WHAT DOES CRAFTPAC DO?
We fight to protect the rights of Texas craft breweries and champion common sense, 21st century legislative reforms. We generally support any legislation that expands the rights of Texas craft brewers and fight against any proposed legislation that seeks to further limit the rights of craft brewers.
WHAT ARE CRAFTPAC’S GOALS?
-Sustained craft brewery growth and beer tourism expansion throughout Texas. The modernization of Texas beer laws will allow the Texas craft beer industry to generate maximum economic impact and create thousands more jobs throughout the state. Who doesn’t like that?!
-Protect and ensure craft brewers’ access to markets so that Texas consumers can enjoy their beer wherever and whenever they want it.
-Reform antiquated and outdated regulatory statutes which place unnecessary strain and expense on small brewers.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
CraftPAC contributions are used to support legislative candidates, ballot initiatives and pieces of legislation which positively impact the growth and sustainability of the Texas craft beer industry. CraftPAC also opposes legislative candidates, ballot initiatives, and legislation which seek to hold the industry back.
WILL CRAFTPAC GIVE MONEY TO A LEGISLATOR I DON’T LIKE?
Honestly, probably. Beer is bipartisan, and CraftPAC is a non-partisan organization singularly focused on improving Texas beer laws. That means that we will have to support the politicians who champion craft beer on both sides of the aisle in order to effect progress.

I DON’T DRINK CRAFT BEER, WHY SHOULD I SUPPORT CRAFTPAC?
Well, maybe you just haven’t tried the right beer yet!
Alright, alright…There are plenty of things to love about craft beer besides that majestic liquid inside of those cans, kegs and bottles. In a time where good, solid manufacturing jobs are hard to come by, craft breweries are one of the top five fastest growing manufacturing sectors when it comes to job growth. Craft breweries also drive enormous economic impact, are champions of local communities and non-profits, and serve as family and community-friendly gathering spaces.
Furthermore, growth in the craft beer industry not only supports the breweries themselves, but a large network of supporting and related industries including: hops and barley farmers, can and bottle manufacturers, equipment and machinery suppliers, merchandise and glassware companies, shipping and transportation, business services, wholesalers, and many retailers who sell craft beer like your favorite bars, restaurants, grocery stores, specialty bottle shops and local corner stores.
IS MY CONTRIBUTION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
We’re afraid not. Contributions to PACs are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
WHY CAN’T I MAKE AN ANONYMOUS CONTRIBUTION?
Texas state law requires us to collect and report the full name, address, and principal occupation or job title of individuals whose contributions equal or exceed $50 in a reporting period. So, that’s why we have to collect it from you. If your contribution is less than $50, we still need to collect your info in case you make any subsequent contributions which put you over the $50 mark. Plus, we’d like to give you the opportunity to opt-in to our mailing list to receive occasional legislative and PAC updates.
WILL YOU SELL OR SHARE MY EMAIL ADDRESS OR SPAM ME WITH A BUNCH OF EMAILS?
The email address and phone number you provide to CraftPAC will not be sold or shared with any unauthorized parties. When you donate you will have the opportunity to “opt in” to the CraftPAC mailing list to receive occasional updates on the PAC and legislative issues impacting Texas craft brewing. It’s up to you to decide if you’d like to “opt-in” to receive these updates or not. We hope you do, and we promise we’ll only hit you up when it’s important!
WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE AND IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MUCH I CAN CONTRIBUTE?
Under Texas law, individuals, PACs, and certain partnerships and limited liability companies may contribute to political campaigns. Texas law does not limit the amount donors may contribute.
Texas law prohibits the following entities from making political contributions: corporations, labor organizations, or foreign nationals who have not been granted permanent residence in the United States. The prohibition on corporate contributions also applies to other organizations, such as partnerships and LLCs, if they are owned by a corporation or include an incorporated member or partner. If you are not sure whether you can legally contribute, please contact us HERE.
